Mark Eichner was named Music Director and Conductor of the Racine Concert Band in 2002, becoming only the fifth conductor in the band's 81 year history. Since 1982 he has served as conductor of the Wind Ensemble and trumpet instructor of the University of Wisconsin - Parkside. He founded the UW - Parkside Community Band in 1990. In 1993 he was selected for a University of Wisconsin Regents' Award for Teaching Excellence.
Professor Eichner maintains an active schedule of trumpet performance. He performs regularly in the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra and BrassWorks, a professional brass quintet. He has performed in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Woodstock Mozart Festival, the Skylight Opera, the Milwaukee Bach Society, Music Under the Stars, the Brass Band of Battle Creek, and the Racine Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to his appointment at UW - Parkside, Professor Eichner taught at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and in the Austin, Texas public schools. He earned his bachelor and master of music degrees at the University of Texas.
